Maheen Sayeed – 1st Year Medical Student
March 7, 2020 @ 12:00 am
Maheen is a wife, mom and first year medical student in Southern New Jersey. Prior to medical school she worked in the pharmaceutical industry designing and developing monoclonal antibody therapeutics. She then developed CAR-T cell therapies for blood borne cancers. Maheen has a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Georgetown University. She was inspired to go to medical school after her mom passed away. However, her journey has been a winding one. Being a mother herself has changed her perspective on higher education and healthcare, and medicine in particular. Maheen strongly believes in encouraging women to pursue higher education and realizes the need for women to support each other in doing so. Maheen hopes to merge her personal experience and previous professional experience with her medical education and training to be an advocate for her patients.
